IU strawberry moon

Having debuted in 2008, IU aka Lee Ji-eun has made a name for herself in the K-Pop industry as a singer and actress. Well, to thank fans and celebrate her 13th debut anniversary, the soloist is going all out. She first used her brand influence to organize an 850 million won ($700k) charity and has now released the digital single ‘strawberry moon’. This happens to be her third musical project of the year.

IU had previously been featured in AKMU’s collaborative album ‘Next Episode’ with the title track ‘Nakka’. She also released her 5th studio album ‘LILAC’ which went on to break several records as it became a certified platinum album and topped the Gaon Album Chart, iTunes and charted high on Billboard. She also got 19 music show wins that renewed her title ‘digital monster’. Well, it looks like ‘strawberry moon’ will not be any different from the immediate success it saw the moment it was released.

strawberry moon

strawberry moon’ is a dreamy pop song that was released on October 19. The upbeat song is heavy with peppy synths and guitar sounds as IU sings about young love. Going for an easy listening song, IU worked on the single with the hope that fans can feel happy and let go of their worries while listening to it. The magical music video is equally fun and bright full of cute animations as she goes on a date on the moon surrounded by pink clouds and enjoys the breeze in a flying car.

The single is an instant success as ‘strawberry moon’ got a perfect all-kill on music charts as it topped MelOn, FLO, Genie, Vibe, iChart and Bugs. She had previously had an all-kill with ‘Celebrity’ and ‘LILAC’. This makes her the first female soloist to get all-kills in 2021. This is also her third 2021 song to debut at #1 on MelOn and is the first female soloist to do so. ‘Celebrity‘ and ‘strawberry moon‘ are also the only songs to debut at #1 on Vibe. ‘strawberry moon’ peaked at #13 on the iTunes Worldwide Chart.
