The South Korean boy group VAV finally landed in India on 29th May midnight at Delhi Airport which was witnessed by them trending on twitter India with hashtags #NamsteyVAV and #VAVinIndia.
Yesterday, the 30th May, a press conference was organised by Kiwa Consultants and Korean Cultural Centre India at KCCI Delhi. It was a small, exclusive affair with invited press and fans only.
“We want to present a proper collaboration between Indians and Koreans building a strong base of cultural exchange through K-Pop” – Ms. Eunjoo of Kiwa Consultants
The members were diligent and good humored while answering all of the questions. They talked about how they have anticipated meeting Indian fans and have prepared so hard for the tour, with lots of surprises like special version of “THRILLA KILLA”, Bollywood songs and much more to which Lou added cheekily, “You will have to come to the concert tomorrow and see it for yourselves!”
Ziu also mentioned that in preparation for his tour to India, he has been researching about Indian food like Tandoori, Butter Chicken, Naan, Samosas and can not wait to try them! They expressed their interest in collaborating with Bollywood in future. St. Van, the leader of VAV said that they feel honored to spread Hallyu Wave across the world and to be representing their culture in India is just another dream come true. They humbly mentioned that their strong points are physical strength and power they put into their performances and are hoping that the fans will thoroughly enjoy them live!
We (KPOP High India) asked them if they were aware of the twitter trending and how do they feel about the love on digital media platforms from Indian fans. They replied saying that, each member everyday checks sns and that they are aware of what Indian fans did on twitter to welcome them, their heart is overwhelmed with all the love they are receiving. They expressed their immense gratitude and said that this motivates them to work even harder!
Members reply to the question, “What comes to your mind instantly when you think of India?” was:
Ayno: “Elephant!” *naturally imitates the elephant making the air lighter in the room”
Lou: “Taj Mahal!”
St. Van: “Bollywood. 3 Idiots!”
Baron: :Indo Civilization.”
ACE: “Hindi, curry”
Ziu: “Ah India… Namaste, Namashkar!” *stands up to greet*
They also answered few fans’ questions and were surprised at fans’ ability to ask them in fluent Korean! “Listening you speak Korean… wow i have goosebumps!” – St. Van
In the end they concluded with giving thanks, “I know the air feels heavy right now here, right? but we promise you tomorrow you will have a great time!” – Lou
